Second rabid raccoon found in Craven County this year

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A second raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Craven County this year.
The Craven County Health Department says the raccoon was found on Golden Road in the Truitt community today.
Another raccoon was found back in July on Old Brick Road near Vanceboro.
Officials warn any person bitten or exposed to the potentially infectious saliva from the animal to call their healthcare provider or the health department for a rabies risk assessment.
Officials ask anyone who sees an animal demonstrating unusual behavior to call Craven County Animal Protective Services at 252-639-4256.
