Five vehicles involved in Highway 24 crash in Carteret County
CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Five vehicles were involved in a crash on a Carteret County highway Monday afternoon.
The Broad and Gales Creek Fire Department says its crews were called to a crash near the Highway 24 and Nine Mile Road intersection before 1:30 p.m. yesterday.
Crews got to the scene within minutes and found that five vehicles were involved in the accident.
Fire officials say the crash spanned over 100 yards and blocked all lanes of the highway.
One vehicle was overturned in the accident.
Patients were assessed by medical crews on scene with help from Newport and Emerald Isle crews, and the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office worked to direct traffic while clean up was underway.
Hwy 24 was reopened about an hour after crews got to the scene, according to officials.
