Rabid raccoon found in Craven County

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Craven County.
The Craven County Health Department says the raccoon was found on Old Brick Road near Vanceboro on Monday.
Officials warn any person bitten or exposed to the potentially infectious saliva from the animal to call their healthcare provider or the health department for a rabies risk assessment.
Officials ask anyone who sees an animal demonstrating unusual behavior to call Craven County Animal Protective Services at 252-639-4256.
