Loaded gun magazine found on Frontier flight, forcing passengers to deboard
DENVER (Gray News) - A loaded gun magazine was found on a Frontier flight Sunday night in Denver.
Passengers had to get off the plane after the gun magazine was found. They were rescreened “as a matter of precaution,” a Frontier spokesperson told Denver7.
The passengers on the flight, which was scheduled to depart around 8 p.m. Sunday, were rebooked for a Monday morning flight because the flight crew had exceeded their duty time, the spokesperson said.
In an email, a TSA union spokesperson told Denver7 that finding the gun magazine on the plane means TSA agents missed it during screening.
“Not good,” the spokesperson said.
Passenger Rashon Hammonds told Denver7 that everyone was deplaned and then escorted by police back to TSA but was not told why.
“They never told us why. And then even more so, like, once we got through TSA, that was it. There was no more instruction after, so everybody’s just standing outside of TSA, like, do we go back to the terminal? You know, do we get on the flight? And then that’s when we got an email from Frontier saying that our plane was completely canceled and that we would get back on at six o’clock this morning,” Hammonds said.
Hammonds told Denver7 that Frontier denied requests for refunds.
“The Frontier gate attendant just told us that it was not Frontier’s fault, and they couldn’t be held responsible,” Hammonds said.
Hammonds told Denver7 that he got a $15 reimbursement voucher.
