Kinston murder suspect charged with assaulting detention officer

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man in jail for a murder last year in Kinston is facing more charges after deputies say he assaulted a detention officer.

Prince Ellison has been charged with assault inflicting physical injury to a detention officer.

Lenoir County deputies say the 22-year-old Ellison hit the officer as he was trying to put the inmate back into his cell early this morning.

A warrant says Ellison punched and struck the officer, “causing significant bruising and swelling to the eye”.

Ellison has been in jail after his arrest in September for the murder of Daryl Dudley at Richard Green Apartments the month before.

The man remains in jail without bond.
