Highway 12 reopens after weekend winter storm

OCRACOKE, N.C. (WITN) - Highway 12 has reopened, days after it was closed because of the winter storm.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says traffic was allowed back on the coastal highway around 3:00 p.m. for sections on Ocracoke and Pea islands.

With that, ferry service to Hatteras will also resume, with departures from Hatteras at 3 p.m and 6 p.m, and departures from Ocracoke at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
