UPDATE: Washington barricaded suspect is in custody

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - A barricaded man was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Washington, the sheriff’s office says.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies and officers with Washington police went to a home in the 2000 block of West 5th Street for a domestic dispute.

Officials say during the encounter, the man ran into the home and barricaded himself inside.

Deputies say the man’s mother got out of the home safely, leaving just the man inside.

Shortly after sharing about the situation, the sheriff’s office sent out an update saying it had been resolved.
