CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A cow that touched the lives of many through her story has died.
Brandy was surrendered to Craven County Animal Protective Services after being found lying next to a fence with a severe eye injury and in poor condition on May 7th.
She was later diagnosed with ocular squamous cell carcinoma, also known as “eye cancer”.
Despite the immediate care she received, the disease had progressed too far, and the most compassionate option was to humanely euthanize her, according to animal protective services.
The county says this case is a reminder of the importance of timely veterinary care and regular checks for livestock.
