Six inmates charged after four overdoses inside Carteret County jail

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Six inmates at the Carteret County jail are facing charges after deputies say four inmates overdosed on fentanyl.
Deputies say it happened Tuesday night. They say jail staff administered naloxone and summoned EMS to stabilize the four before they were taken to Carteret Health Care.
The sheriff’s office says the fentanyl was smuggled into the jail by someone who was just arrested.
- John Consigli, 32, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule II controlled substance fentanyl, deliver Schedule II fentanyl, and possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises.
- Kelly Rasmussen, 44, deliver Schedule II fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises.
- Joseph Journigan, 44, possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises.
- Matthew Moss, 34, possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises.
- Michael Moss, 35, possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises.
- Tyler Taylor, 33, possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises.
All six inmates were given $100,000 secured bonds after a first court appearance.
