ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man who was under a domestic violence protective order was shot and killed early Monday in one Eastern Carolina county.

Onslow County deputies say the shooting happened just after midnight Monday at home on Bear Creek Road.

Colton Bush was found inside the home with gunshot wounds. The 28-year-old man died later at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.

Deputies say it’s being investigated as a domestic-related shooting and that Bush was “not a lawful occupant of the residence”.

The case remains under investigation while deputies have yet to release the circumstances of the shooting or who shot the man.

Records show Bush was convicted last year in Onslow County for violating a protective order, and had pending charges of break/enter to terrorize/injure, domestic criminal trespass, violation of a protective order, and simple assault.
