UPDATE: Suspect named after two injured in Roanoke Rapids shooting

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WITN) - Authorities have identified the man connected to a shooting in Roanoke Rapids on Sunday.

Police say 52-year-old Calvin Robinson was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault Inflicting Serious Injury.

They say the weapon that was used was located on the suspect and it was seized by law enforcement as evidence.

Police say it appears the motive of the shooting was related to an argument between Robinson and two other individuals.

Neither of the two victims were armed with any weapons and both were shot in non-vital areas of the body.

Robinson was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under no bond and given a court date of 9/26/2024.

A shooting left two injured in a city in the east Saturday morning.

According to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, the shooting happened at 11:30 a.m. at the 700 block of Washington Street. Two people were shot and were in critical condition. The two victims were transported to ECU North.

The victims’ are now in non-life threatening conditions.

Roanoke Rapids Police says the suspect and the firearm are in police custody.

There is no continued threat to the 700 block of the Washington Street area.
