GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina fire department will soon be able to train close to home, with a new live burn facility set to open later this week.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday for the Greenville Fire/Rescue Department’s new training facility at 2900 East Second Street.

The $500,000 facility, constructed by Symtech Fire and completed in January, will allow Greenville firefighters to train in live fire in the city.

Officials say the building was also constructed with room for expansion and growing training needs.
