‘I am going to kill you’: Grifton man charged with attempted murder of girlfriend

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Grifton man is facing numerous charges in the attempted murder of his girlfriend, according to court documents.

50-year-old Wesley Brown was arrested Tuesday by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.

Warrants show Brown assaulted his girlfriend by punching her near her rib cage and on the head, and also held his hand over her mouth and nose, leading to her blacking out.

According to court documents, Brown also threatened the woman by saying that if she didn’t leave, he was going to kill her, but he was still restraining her, not allowing her to leave.

The Grifton man is also accused of taking the woman’s phone.

Brown was arrested and charged with:

  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • Assault by strangulation
  • Assault on a female
  • Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
  • False imprisonment
  • Communicating threats
  • Misdemeanor larceny

Brown was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center, where he remains. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
