Gift card giveaway to help Dickinson Avenue businesses

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The Downtown Greenville Partnership has come up with a way to help businesses on Dickinson Avenue that have endured years of road construction.

The final portion of the road opened last Friday after work on Dickinson started in 2022.

Farmers & Makers Market owner Ryan Webb said he’s looking forward to more people coming out.

“We’re excited to have traffic back, to have the on-street parking back. We’re definitely looking forward to warmer weather when the walking traffic comes back,” he said.

Now, the Downtown Greenville Partnership is giving away 1,000 gift cards worth $20 each on February 18th to people patronizing the businesses.

The partnership says people simply show up at the businesses starting at 5 p.m. that night, grab a free $20 gift card, and spend it immediately.

Kathryn Glenn, whose family owns Jefferson’s, said she’s excited for it.

“With the construction, we hope this pushes traffic in this area, so that we see streets filled with people walking around and just enjoying themselves,” said Glenn.

The cards are designed to be used that night to give the shops and restaurants a huge boost.

People can pick up one gift card per person per location, while supplies last.

Webb said each business will offer something different.

“You can go to one place, have a drink, come here and buy some chocolates, and go down to have dessert at another place. We’re excited about people hopefully trying to maximize moving around the district that day,” Webb added.

You have to be 18 and over to participate and 21 and over to purchase alcohol.

The cards have to be redeemed on February 18th.
