CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The former associate warden of the Craven Correctional Institution has been promoted.

Christopher Auer served five years in the Army before his corrections career began in 2001, starting as a food service officer at the Hyde Correctional Institution.

In 2006, Auer became a correctional officer at the facility and was promoted to captain in 2016.

In 2019, Auer transferred as a captain to the Craven County prison, where he was promoted to associate warden in 2023.

“Warden Auer’s 24 years of experience in the corrections field, combined with his proven ability as a leader, will benefit Craven Correctional and the NC Department of Adult Correction,” said Secretary of Adult Correction Leslie Dismukes.

Auer will oversee all operations as the warden at the Vanceboro facility.
