Early voting begins in New Bern municipal election
NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Today is the first day New Bern residents can cast ballots in this year’s municipal election.
Early voting opened at 8 a.m. at the Stanley White Recreation Center located at 601 3rd Avenue.
Residents can vote for the mayor and all six alderman seats.
Four people are running for the mayoral seat, including current mayor Jeffrey Odham.
The early voting period will end Saturday, October 4th, before Election Day in New Bern on October 7th.
Early voting is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus Saturday, October 4th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The State Board of Elections is reminding residents to bring a photo ID when they go to the polls.
New Bern is one of 14 municipalities across 18 counties holding October elections. Elizabeth City and Rocky Mount are also holding elections next month.
