Greene County Sheriff’s Office launches new mobile app
SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) - A new initiative from a sheriff’s office in the East is providing residents with a greater sense of security.
Greene County Sheriff Matt Sasser says access to vital information is now just a click away after the sheriff’s office launched its new app on Friday.
Sasser says he wants to use it to keep people informed.
“Obviously, having a PIO is something that I just don’t have the luxury of having,” says Sasser. “We’re a small staff so, we do the best we can. So, the app is going to help us get out information to the public and you know benefit everybody on it.”
Sasser says the new app contains information like news releases and arrests.
Greene County resident Nell Cannon says she loves the area’s laid-back atmosphere and has downloaded the app to stay connected to her community.
Cannon says when it comes to herself and her family, she has more peace of mind having quick access to vital information.
“What Sheriff Sasser is implementing, that’s just going to strengthen what we need to feel even more safe, cause we’re growing,” says Cannon.
The app can be downloaded on both Apple and Android devices and is free.
Sheriff Sasser says the office will still maintain a Facebook page but encourages residents to download the app to stay informed.
