There's been another deadly shooting in one Eastern Carolina city, the fourth homicide so far this year.

Rocky Mount police say Tobious Cox is the latest murder victim.

Around 10:00 p.m. Monday night, police were called to a shooting in the 700 block of West Thomas Street. They found a white Ford Focus that had hit a utility pole, and a short distance away the body of the 29-year-old Cox was disovered on the sidewalk.

No arrests have been made in the latest murder.

"These recent homicides were not random and appear to be unrelated," said Interim Police Chief George Robinson. "The victims in these investigations were either targeted or had familiarity with the suspects.'

During the first weekend of the year, three people were killed in two different shootings in Rocky Mount, while on Friday a man and a woman survived being shot on North Harris Street.

So far, police have made arrests in just one of the homicides.
