Man in prison charged with murder after victim dies nearly 10 years after shooting
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/Gray News) - A man is now facing murder charges after a shooting victim died nearly a decade after he was shot.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Marcus Tobias Jackson shot Warren Gordon at Salem Arms Apartments on Rosier Road in 2016.
The shooting left Gordon paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.
According to officials, Jackson was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the shooting. He is currently serving his sentence at Calhoun State Prison in Morgan, Georgia.
However, the sheriff’s office said investigators learned Gordon died on March 5, 2026.
Autopsy results showed Gordon suffered from multiple ulcers that became infected, leading to his death, according to officials.
Officials confirmed the ulcers were complications connected to Gordon’s injuries from the shooting.
Investigators have now charged Jackson with murder in connection with Gordon’s death.
