WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump is now saying that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is on massive life support.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump said the response from the Iranian negotiators was quote, unacceptable, according to his short Truth Social post.

President Donald Trump sharply criticized the peace proposal sent by Iranian representatives over the weekend.

The conflict is now in its eleventh week. Last month, the Trump administration said there is an indefinite ceasefire. The White House also told Congress that hostilities were terminated.

Now, President Donald Trump is calling the response from the Iranians, quote, a piece of garbage, ”They said, I’m not going to waste my time reading it. I would say it’s one of the weakest right now. It’s on life support. They understand these are all medical people. Dr. Oz life support is not a good thing, do you agree? Do you agree? Diagnostic. I would say the ceasefire is on massive life support where the doctor walks in and says, sir, your loved one has approximately a 1% chance of living."

During an event that was supposed to promote maternal health initiatives, reporters asked the President for specifics on the way forward, “Yeah, it was just unacceptable. You know, a lot of people said, well. Does he have a plan? Yeah, of course I do have the best plan ever. Iran has been defeated militarily totally. They have a little left. They probably built up during this period of time. We’ll knock that out in about a day. But I have a plan, it’s a very simple plan. I don’t know why you don’t say it like it is - Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.

The conflict is continuing to impact the global energy markets, with the average gallon of gas costing $4.47 a gallon, up nearly a dollar and a half from a year ago, according to GasBuddy.

President Trump is considering putting the federal gas tax on hold to lower prices, but that’s less than 25 cents per gallon. Also, it will require Congressional approval to end the tax.

The Iran conflict will also take center stage when the President travels to China, later this week .China gets much of its oil from Iran and via the currently blockaded Straits of Hormuz.
