Man charged with shooting gun outside Greenville business
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville man is behind bars after court documents show he fired a gun in the parking lot of a business.
29-year-old Nehemiah Austin was arrested Friday by the Greenville Police Department.
Court documents show Austin caused multiple people to run in fear for their safety after he fired a gun in the parking lot of a business, Da Hotbox Lounge.
While police tried to arrest Austin, warrants show an officer’s hand was cut, and Austin tried to bite the officer as well. The Greenville man also ran from another officer after being told to stop.
This is the second shooting outside this business in a week. On February 8, a man was arrested after firing several rounds outside the business on South Memorial Drive.
Austin was charged with discharge of a firearm within city limits, resisting a public officer causing serious bodily injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting a public officer, and injury to personal property.
The last charge comes after court documents show Austin caused damage to hobbles used for restraining prisoners.
He was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center, where he remains under no bond.
