Pedestrian killed in Highway 13 collision in Hertford County

HERTFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The State Highway Patrol says an Ahoskie man was hit and killed by a vehicle last night while walking along a Hertford County highway.

Troopers were called to U.S. 13 near East Modlin Road around 11:33 p.m. after an unresponsive man was found in a ditch. The man was pronounced dead when EMS arrived.

The Highway Patrol says Darrick Davis was walking south in the middle of the highway wearing dark clothing when an elderly woman driving northbound hit him, sending him into a ditch.

According to troopers, the driver will not be charged.
