BIG ROCK DAY 6: ‘Big Trouble’ wins Big Rock tournament with 517.1-pound blue marlin
MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) - On the final day of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, ‘Big Trouble’ brought in a 517.1-pound blue marlin and took home the title of this year’s Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament winner.
‘Big Trouble’ boated a blue marlin at 12:25 this afternoon, and just after 2:30, the boat arrived to be weighed. They are now taking home a payout of about $2.5 million!
Leaving the captain thankful and owing it to the crew on board.
“Sometimes it’s just luck man. Driving in the right on and the stars align, and everything going right,” says ‘Big Trouble’ captain Chris Daniels.
When asked how they plan to celebrate their victory, Daniels and angler Darin Cox stated they would do so the best way possible.
“That’s a good question, I never celebrated this so we’ll have to see how that goes but it’ll be good,” says Daniels.
“I think we’re going to have a good night!,” says Cox.
Other boats have been in the water with hooks and releases this morning and into the afternoon, as Marsh Madness was the only boat still hooked up with a blue marlin at of 2:39 p.m. They released the blue marlin at 2:48 p.m., with no more lines in the water.

After day five ended in a disqualification of the biggest fish the tournament has brought in, ‘Bankwalker’ was in the lead with a 449.7-pound blue marlin. ‘Big Trouble’ then took the lead, along with the Fabulous Fisherman’s prize of $807,500.
The Level V Fabulous Fisherman’s Prize is for the first 500-pound Blue Marlin that is brought in.
For Cox and another crewmember aboard ‘Big Trouble,’ Friday’s victory is more than just a win; it is something personal, as both had experienced disqualification from previous Big Rock tournaments.
