Litter Sweep NC brings surprising trash finds

NORTH CAROLINA (WITN) - North Carolina Department of Transportation is working to keep the roadsides litter free.

During their two-week Spring Litter Sweep, crews have found several different types of trash on the side of the road.

The litter sweep started on April 12th and will run until April 26th.

NCDOT encourages the community to get involved in keep their state clean by using #StrangeLitter on their social media feeds with pictures of their trash finds.

According to the NCDOT, 3 billion pounds of litter was removed from North Carolina roadsides in 2024.
