Police identify victim in New Bern murder; investigation continues

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting in New Bern.

Silas Wallace was killed in a shooting that happened Friday night. A memorial now stands at where the shooting took place.

Officers say they were called to a report of a shooting just after 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Hillmont Road.

When they arrived, officers found the 23-year-old Wallace lying in the road with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite first aid efforts, Wallace died at the scene.

So far, there have been no arrests in this shooting.
