Sara expected to fizzle out Monday
Tropical moisture from Sara may affect the Gulf Coast
Sara continues to weaken and will attain remnant low-pressure status overnight. The system is moving to the west at 12 mph, with winds at 30 mph and gusting up to 40 mph.
There’s optimism that Sara will be unable to restrengthen once back into the Gulf of Mexico. Increasing westerly winds next week may keep the system disorganized and over open water. Some tropical moisture could make it to the United States this week, enhancing rainfall amounts for the Deep South and Southeastern US from mid-to-late next week. No impacts to the Carolinas are expected.
