Kinston police investigating deadly Sunday night shooting

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - The Kinston Police Department is following leads Monday morning after a woman was shot and killed Sunday night outside an apartment complex building.

The police department says officers were called to the Mitchell Wooten Apartment complex at 9:13 p.m.

Officers say after getting to the area around building eight of the complex, they found Anzaryia Cobb suffering from a gunshot wound.

The police department says the 22-year-old, of Kinston, died from her injuries as she was being airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center.

Major Brandon Turner says the search for a shooter continues but believes the shooting was isolated.
