Ex-employee gets 10 months for 2019 Sneads Ferry daycare assault

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A former employee of a daycare center accused of abusing an 11-month-old boy has pleaded guilty.
McKayla Sausser was originally charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
The Richlands woman was an assistant teacher at the Childcare Network in Sneads Ferry. Deputies say on June 10th, 2019, Sausser forced the baby’s head down in a crib repeatedly while she was working at the daycare.
Sausser pleaded guilty to felony child abuse and was given a 10-month sentence. She was also placed on supervised probation for 3 years.
The baby’s teacher, Bethan Pringle, was also charged in the case. She is currently serving a 5-7 year state prison sentence.
