A man accused of murder is headed to prison after a plea deal in court.
39 year old Earl Ward was one of three people arrested for the murder of 20 year old Zachary Russian in April of 2014.
Police said the shooting at the Rosemont apartment complex off of County Home Road was the result of a drug deal that turned to violence.
Ward pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to the Pitt County DA's Office, the maximum sentence Ward faces is just under 12 years.
