Richlands man charged with ATM break-in
LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Richlands man is accused of breaking into an ATM in Lenoir County early this morning.
Lenoir County deputies say they went to an alarm call at the State Employees’ Credit Union CashPoints ATM on Highway 258, south of Woodington, at the Midway Mart.
Deputies arrived around 1:30 a.m. to find a man leaving the building. The man at first complied with deputies, but then ran as they tried to take him into custody.
With the help of Kinston police, state troopers, Jones County deputies, and a K-9, they found 24-year-old Michael Murrell.
Murrell was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony attempted larceny, felony safecracking, felony possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor injury to real property, and misdemeanor resisting a public officer.
The man was jailed on a $50,000 secured bond.
