WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WITN) - The cards weren’t in Pamlico County’s favor Thursday evening, as they lost 76-15 in the 2A Girls State Championship.
Losing to the two-time defending state champs, Cherokee, the Braves set a North Carolina Girl’s Basketball Record (breaking their own mark) for widest margin of victory in a state final (61 points).
To get here, the Hurricanes won their first East Final since they won it all in 2019.
Next up for high school basketball, the Goldsboro Girls (3A) play Friday at noon and then the Kinston Boys play later at 5 p.m. (also 3A).
