Highway patrol trooper dies on duty after Robeson County car crash

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, one of their troopers died in a car crash while on duty early Sunday morning.

Master Trooper Stien Davis with Troop B, District 7 in Robeson County was involved in a single vehicle collision shortly after midnight and pronounced dead, according to highway patrol.

Colonel Freddy Johnson says Davis was on duty and traveling in his patrol car when he lost control of his vehicle, traveled off the road and overturned in a swampy roadside area while on NC 130. Johnson says the cause of the collision are under investigation at this time.

Johnson says Trooper Davis was a member of the 141st Basic Patrol School and served the state and the Robeson County area with distinction.
