Pepsi Spotlight: Washington’s Aubrey Woolard
WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - From age 6, Aubrey Woolard has had the gift for swimming.
“I never did swim lessons, my parents just threw me in the pool and said you’re going to learn to swim,” she recalled with a laugh.
After swimming competitively throughout her childhood, Aubrey adjusted quickly to the high school level, qualifying for states from freshman year on, and being Washington’s captain from Sophomore year on.
“She has a spark,” Washington Swim Coach Annie Greene said, “She brings the passion, she brings the energy, and she brings the laughter.”
Now ranked 6th in North Carolina for the 50m Freestyle and 7th for the 100m Freestyle, Aubrey’s goal is to medal in states this Thursday, when her and the Pam Pack with head to Cary for their final meet.
