KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Before potentially dangerous winter weather hits the city, Kinston’s mayor has declared a state of emergency.
Mayor Kareem Moore made the announcement Friday. In the declaration, he says there is an “imminent threat” of conditions the could cause “widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property.”
This comes after Governor Josh Stein declared a state of emergency for all of North Carolina on Wednesday.
Roadway conditions are expected to deteriorate early Sunday and could stay hazardous for several days after the storm due to freezing temperatures.
