POLICE: Drunk teen spits on officers after arrest at Kinston Family Dollar
KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - A teen is facing charges after police say he spat on officers after reportedly being drunk at a Kinston Family Dollar store.
Kinston police say on Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m., officers were called to the Family Dollar on Plaza Boulevard for a report of a disturbance between the store clerk and 18-year-old Les-Lee Dauwen.
When officers arrived, they tried to speak with both parties and determined that Dauwen needed to leave the store.
Police say Dauwen was extremely intoxicated and refused to comply with officers’ requests.
As officers were trying to escort him out of the store, police say the teen slapped and pushed an officer.
Dauwen was then placed under arrest.
According to police, while being put into the patrol car, Dauwen spat on officers.
He was taken to the Lenoir County Jail, but upon arrival, he was taken to UNC Lenoir Health Care because of his intoxicated nature.
Dauwen was charged with the following:
- Two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer
- Malicious conduct by prisoner
- Trespassing
- Three counts of resisting arrest
After receiving medical treatment, Dauwen was taken back to jail.
He posted a $50,000 bond last night.
