Greene County deputies investigate assault

GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county are investigating after two people were injured in an assault.

Greene County Sheriff Matt Sasser says it happened at Gurganus & Peanut Road on Friday around lunchtime.

He says it wasn’t reported to them until four hours afterward.

It started with two people fighting. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Sasser told WITN.

Sheriff Sasser would not confirm if any weapons were involved. No one has been charged at this time.
