Man accused of killing brother in Beaufort County shooting

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man is accused of killing his brother in a shooting in Beaufort County this past weekend.

On Saturday, Beaufort County deputies went to a home on Cherry Road for a 911 call of a man being shot.

When deputies arrived, officials say they found the victim, identified as Jonathan Cox, and other people inside the home. Officials say Jonathan Cox died from his injuries.

According to officials, the suspect, 33-year-old Brian Cox, left the scene before deputies arrived, but was then arrested minutes later in the driveway of his home on Terrapin Track Road.

Deputies confirm that the two men were brothers.

Brian Cox, of Washington, is facing one count of murder and is being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under no bond.
