Little League Softball World Series to benefit local businesses

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - All eyes are on Greenville as the 2025 Little League Softball World Series is officially underway!

The 12-team international tournament started Sunday.

Business owners say it’s not only an exciting time for the players and their families, but also for local businesses, as they see an uptick in customers throughout the tournament.

Susan Bass, Artisans Owner, says, “The businesses are excited because there’s a lot to do in Greenville.”

Tie Breakers General Manager, Lane Cullipher, also told WITN, “It’s highlighted on our calendar all year.”

Due to the slow time of business throughout the Summer, Bass said the influx of foot traffic and business couldn’t come at a better time.

“For Artisans, I feel like most of our customers have beach houses or river houses. We have really slow Summers every year, so we’re really excited about it,” she said.

Though the East is no stranger to large sporting events and gatherings, Cullipher told WITN, the LLSBWS is extra special because of the group of people it brings in. “We’re used to an influx of people between the students and bowl games. The only difference with the Little League World Series is, they’re not just coming from Raleigh. They’re coming from all of the United States and all over the world.”

While businesses are grateful for the uptick in foot traffic, Bass says, the Little League Softball World Series is about much more than just that.

She told WITN, “I know the kids are really excited about playing.”

Whether you’re coming here to Stallings Stadium to support your favorite team or are venturing out to enjoy what Greenville has to offer, there are a few road closures to be aware of.

To ensure the safety of those playing in and attending the World Series, Elm Street will be closed. Monday’s games start at 10 a.m.
