MIAMI, F.L. (WITN) - The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Andrea, the first of the Atlantic hurricane season, has formed.

The Hurricane Center had been tracking the low for a few days and the system finally showed enough organization and strong enough winds to prompt a name designation. Winds were at 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

More importantly, the direction of the system puts no land masses in danger. Andrea’s center is about 900 miles East-Northeast of Bermuda and is moving Northeast at 17 mph. The circulation is expected to die out over the next 24 hours while staying north of the Azores.
