Seniors embark on new beginnings: Pitt County Schools hold graduation ceremonies
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - From walks across the stage to proud families, graduation day at Minges Coliseum on ECU’s campus brought a wave of emotions for graduates of J.H Rose and D.H. Conley High Schools.
“It honestly feels amazing,” J.H. Rose graduate Noelle Webb said. “Did not think I would make it here but I did and I’m very proud of myself.”
Another graduate said the hard work paid off.
“I’m so proud of myself, it was not that easy because we are new here,” J.H. Rose High School graduate Farah Abdulberalfakhouri said.
Across Pitt County Schools, a total of 1,920 students will have earned their diploma during the course of 10 different commencement exercises which began on May 22.
Students from PCS Early College High School, Innovation Early College High School, Project SEARCH and Pitt Academy already turned their tassels in earlier events on May 22, June 3 and June 4, respectively.
“We commend the Class of 2025 for their perseverance and achievements,” PCS Superintendent Dr. Steve M. Lassiter Jr. said. ”As we celebrate this milestone, we take pride in knowing their determination and vision has inspired our entire community. We look forward to seeing them shape the future as compassionate, innovative leaders in a world that needs their talents more than ever.”
Webb says a highlight from high school was learning new things.
“Definitely a highlight from my high school experience would be getting to do nursing classes,” she said. “I really enjoyed being in HOSA and enjoyed helping out at the Ronald McDonald House.”
One D.H. Conley graduate said he’s ready for the next step and plans to attend ECU.
“It feels good,” Brandon Thompson said. “Four years of work and it feels good to get a diploma, and show all my hard work has paid off through the hard times, good times.”
According to Pitt County Schools, over $5 million in scholarships were accepted by students to fund their future collegiate endeavors.
North Pitt, South Central, Farmville Central and Ayden-Grifton high school graduation ceremonies will follow on Saturday.
All PCS graduation ceremonies will be streamed live via the district’s YouTube channel http://go.pittschools.org/livestream.
