Teacher of the Week: Emily Perry

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN)—Thanks to your nominations, WITN highlights educators in the area every Wednesday morning. This week, we want you to meet Emily Perry.

Emily teaches seventh-grade English Language Arts at Chocowinity Middle School--the same middle school she attended!

She says the ability to teach in the same school system she grew up in means a lot to her, and she loves giving back to the community that shaped her into the educator she is now.

Ms. Perry began her teaching career in Pitt County and has worked in middle schools across Eastern North Carolina.

Now in her sixth year in education, Emily says she is dedicated to sharing her love of reading and communication with her students in an engaging way, especially through projects and collaborative discussions.

Ms. Perry also works with her students outside of the classroom, as she’s involved with Chocowinity Middle School’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society and is the assistant softball coach this season.

Emily says teaching middle school has been a privilege, and she loves learning from her students each day.
