State begins processing tax returns, refunds expected to start next week

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - State tax returns are now being processed in North Carolina.

The Department of Revenue says refunds are expected to start arriving next week.

The state says taxpayers can begin checking their refund status using the “Where’s My Refund” application on the department’s website.

Returns have been accepted since late January, and the state tax department says taxpayers are encouraged to file electronically for security and convenience, with several free filing options available.
