New fishing pier breaks ground in New Bern

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Ground was broken this morning for a new fishing pier in New Bern, located at the end of Broad Street.

Construction on the pier is expected to begin in the next few days, depending on weather conditions, and is anticipated to take six weeks to complete.

The pier will be 220 feet long and 12 feet wide, featuring a platform at the end next to two other piers.

Once the pier is finished, construction will begin on the accompanying parking area.
