One dead following early morning Lenoir County shooting

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A sheriff’s office here in the east is now investigating a shooting that left one person dead.

According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to 943 Sweet Amy Lane just after midnight Sunday for reports of a gunshot wound to a victim. When they arrived, deputies found 30-year-old Quinton Lee Gray lying unresponsive inside his residence.

Officials say Gray had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Sheriff Jackie Rogers, investigators say they are actively working on the case and believe this was a targeted shooting.

Officials say this shooting remains under investigation and more information will be provided as it comes in.
