Facebook post: Closed Greenville bar & restaurant set to reopen
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A longtime Greenville bar and restaurant that closed abruptly back in August is set to reopen after being sold to a new owner, according to a social media post.
A post on AJ McMurphy’s Facebook page says the business “has been sold to a new owner who plans to keep AJ’s as the establishment that everyone has grown to know and love.”
The post does not say who bought the business.

A statement last August addressed the sudden closure saying, “The sequence of events this week are unfortunate, to say the least. There are two business partners involved in AJ McMurphy’s. One made a bad decision, and one tried to clean up the mess overnight…after being a silent partner for the past 6 years. Over the past 48 hours, I have done everything in my power to understand the situation at hand, and assess the future of our business. I’ve spent time talking with staff, attorneys, accountants, law enforcement (including ALE). Unfortunately, I am forced with the hard decision to close AJ McMurphy’s permanently. Please know this absolutely did not come as an easy decision, and our staff and guests will remain in my heart forever. Shannon.”
Shannon also wrote the latest post saying, “Please welcome the new owners with open arms...I look forward to seeing you all soon on this side of the bar!!!”
