Spirit AeroSystems expanding footprint at Global TransPark
Spirit AeroSystems says it is expanding their Kinston plant.
The company says it will invest over $55.7 million dollars at the Global TransPark over the next five years. The company currently has two facilities at GTP.
"We continue to be pleased with the increasing footprint of Spirit. Their investment and corporate partnership in our community plays a vital role in the growth of Lenoir County and Eastern North Carolina," said Lenoir County Board of Commissioners Chair Craig Hill.
Lenoir County says it will award Spirit nearly $1.5 million in a performance-based grant to help with the expansion.
Spirit makes the center fuselage and other components for the Airbus A350 in Kinston.
A news release didn't say exactly how many new jobs this expansion would bring.
