AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA/Gray News) - A Texas man who was on probation for possessing child pornography will now spend the rest of his life in prison.

Michael Lee Green, 43, appeared before Judge Dee Johnson of Randall County’s 47th District Court on Friday.

Texas authorities said an investigation started in November 2024 when Amarillo Police Department’s Special Victims Unit received a tip from Oklahoma Predator Prevention, an advocacy group that targets online predators.

The tip involved the online activities of Green.

Police investigated the tip, and a department investigator had a forensic examination conducted on Green’s cellphone.

The examination revealed that Green possessed illegal child sexual abuse material involving minors.

Authorities said Green admitted during several interviews with investigators that he received and viewed the material.

He was booked into Randall County Jail on 10 counts of possessing child pornography involving more than 50 depictions or videos of minors.

In March 2025, Green was placed on deferred adjudication for a term of 10 years.

Court records showed that Green was then booked into Randall County Jail again in July on a felony charge of unauthorized absence from a community correction facility.

The offense was related to an incident where he did not report to a court-ordered supervision facility.

At his Friday hearing, Judge Johnson heard evidence from both sides on revocation and punishment.

After hearing the evidence, the judge revoked Green’s probation and sentenced him to life in prison on each of the 10 counts.

Green additionally entered a plea in his other open felony case.
