RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - Attorney General Jeff Jackson is sharing another update after launching NC Fuel Check last month.

The fuel check lets drivers report gas stations that are not lowering their prices to account for the suspended state tax.

Governor Josh Stein signed a law suspending the state’s 41-cent-per-gallon tax on gas and diesel until Nov. 30.

Two weeks ago, Jackson said over 470 reports came in concerning fuel price savings.

His office says they have now followed up on 51 complaints since its launch, with 42 of those requesting an explanation from gas stations.

Eight of the 42 letters were sent to gas stations in eastern North Carolina.

  • Currituck: 1
  • Dare: 2
  • Halifax: 1
  • Jones: 1
  • Onslow: 2
  • Pender: 1

The state Department of Justice also sent nine referrals to the state Department of Agriculture about differences in advertised price and the actual price at the pump.

One of those referrals was based on a complaint about a gas station in Onslow County.
