ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A woman was killed, and a man and toddler were injured in a crash in Onslow County Friday night.

The Highway Patrol says troopers were called to the crash before 8:30 p.m. Friday on A.I. Taylor Road.

Troopers say the driver, 28-year-old Austin Simpson, was traveling north when the car ran off the road, struck a tree and caught fire.

The front passenger, 30-year-old Kristina Rowe, was trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say a two-year-old child in a car seat was trapped but did make it out. The child was taken to Chapel Hill to be treated for burns.

Simpson was taken to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune with burns and injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
