FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Officials are clearing the scene at Franklinton High School after investigating a possible shooting.

The State Bureau of Investigation says it found nothing, and no one was injured.

Earlier this morning, officials asked people to stay away from the area because of heavy police presence.

Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White announced that his crews will stay on campus for the rest of the day as they return students to their families.

The sheriff’s office said it will investigate and charge the person who made the false report.
